The sun was warming up the world without being scalding and there was a breeze making up for any undesirable heat. From his dorm room, Pacific had felt the sunshine and wind and singing birds were calling him. It felt like being at home in Seattle. He could almost hear the bees his parents rose buzzing around. Even though he hadn’t ever been allowed to do much with them, Pacific loved bees. That was one of the best parts of summer. The humming was relaxing. There were a lot of people that were afraid of them, but when you’ve grown up around them, you get used to it. He decided then that it was time to go outside and enjoy the weather while it lasted. As he walked through the hallways towards the closest exit from the building, Pacific quickly turned his hair back to its natural blonde (much better to keep the sun from being attracted to him!) before heading out into the open. Pac found himself down by the fields after a few minutes of walking. He hadn’t been around most of the campus, and this was new to him. He didn’t have any real reason to come down here, since he didn’t do any sports. People asked him all the time if he played basketball, since he was so tall, but he didn’t particularly want to fight over an orange ball to get it through a hoop. Sports seemed kind of pointless to him. Instead of trying to join in somewhere, Pacific wandered up to the top of the bleachers and sat down, watching all the kids who were out today performing their respective activities. It felt sort of creepy but he was also quite intrigued. He could see the smokers sneaking around with cigarettes and hoping they weren’t spotted. He could see the athletes running around like there was no tomorrow. And he could see the friends and lovers meandering around together, just enjoying the day with the one they loved. Most of the time, Pac would have liked to be in some of the action. Today, though, it felt nice to observe. Eventually, though, he did get tired of watching everyone. He felt like he was going to get beat up for spying, so eventually he decided just to look up at the sky, because no one up there would judge him. But looking directly upwards was hurting his neck, so in the end he laid down across the bleachers, with his legs a row above his head and the rest of his body. It wasn’t particularly comfortable, but it was effective. He felt invisible, with his top half laying flat on the bleachers. If someone looked up, it was likely all they could see was a pair of teal jeans and bright yellow Converse. there can be only one mikey! of caution 2.0 |
