ANNEMARIE GRACE OLSEN
SIXTEEN. RESERVED. PARANOID. DEMISEXUAL. OPEN.
Oh, hey Castles! Look who's it is! It's Annemarie Grace Olsen! Oh, uh... perhaps you know them by their nickname, Gracie Olsen? Anyway, this certain blessing in disguise came to us on June twelfth, and grew up to be a hefty 5'9. You can always tell it's Gracie because of their blonde hair, sky eyes and bone structure of the face. Not to mention they've gotten themselves no tattoos! You know, everyone says they look like Gemma Ward? I personally don't see it though ....
The fat lard of a principal looked over his papers with a rather disinterested attitude. He noticed you sitting down, but doesn't really have the courtesy to look up from his desk. To you, he says out loud. "Let's begin sha'll we? Tell me the basic details about yourself." With a cough, he shuffled through is papers and glanced at you once through his small eye glasses.
Gracie watches him anxiously as he looks at her papers. He doesn't seem angry or annoyed or anything, but rather disinterested. She wonders if there's something wrong with what they say. When he speaks, she disregards her wonders and hesitates to respond. After all, she hadn't been the most social person and she definitely did not want to get on the principal's bad site. She parts her lips to speak, but her voice is a soft as a mouse's squeak - despite that she sounds loud in her mind. When the principal looks at her with a 'what?' look on his face, Gracie realizes that she had been mumbling. "M-my name is Annemarie G-grace Olsen." she starts, stuttering at first. "But most everybody calls me 'Gracie'. You don't have to... but it's preferred." she tries to smile, but the principal looks entertained and the smile fades when he doesn't return it. "I'm sixteen years old and a junior." She hesitates before telling him, as she doesn't really know if it is necessary, and has never told anybody except for her parents: "I suffer from OCD. Which is 'obsessive-compulsive disorder'. I really need to do things in a specific order and get flustered when I don't." she blushed a little and looked away, trying to shrug it off. Thank goodness this information was between her and the principal only.
With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, threw his glasses on the desk and ran his chubby fingers through thinning, greasy hair. He pinched the nose of his bridge and closed his eyes tightly as he said, "You know about the truth of this place. Now, I didn't invite you personally, my staff did. So please, give me a run down of your power." With his eyes still shut, the principal gestured with one arm toward you to begin.
Gracie hesitated again and waited to see if he had anything to say. The principal was different than most. Most would evaluate you and watch you keenly. He just looked tired and was here 'because he had to be'. She watched him but sharply turned back when he noticed, not wanting to come off as rude. "Sorry!" she blurted when he noticed, then fixed her hair and tried to calm herself down and shrug it off as if nothing had happened. "Well, I'm really into animals. I love them. I'm a vegan and won't eat any kind of meat. Not pork, beef, or nothing. My family raises cattle, as we're a dairy farm, so I guess I've been especially close to cattle. And, I've never been afraid of them or anything of that sort. I'm used to big animals now." she chewed on her lower lip and, again, waited to see if the principal had anything to say. She looked to see if he was writing anything down and tried to read the papers upsidedown, but she couldn't. Gracie let out a soft sigh and began to speak once more. "I was always bullied as a child. I was quiet and an easy target... one day, I was feeling really low and started crying. Then, I heard voices. I realized it was one of the cows, Deedee, who was speaking to me. I spoke back (softly) after being freaked out a little, and she responded again. She comforted me and I felt way better..." Gracie smiled and wiped a tear from her cheek. Thinking about Deedee made her miss home. She missed the cows there. "My parents thought I was crazy at first." she chuckled. "But they realized I was telling the truth. Especially when Deedee told me she was pregnant and I told my parents. They didn't believe me at first, but when Deedee had her calf, they started believing me."
Finally, his eyes opened groggily. However, he wasn't much warmer. He yawned loudly and largely as he looked over your paper. With eyes watery and face red he continued, "I see why we would have invited you. Let's see..ah yes. Mind telling a bit about your family and where you're from?"
"Of course I do not mind." she tried to smile, "My mum's name is Renee Olsen and my father is Robert Olsen. As I told you before, we run a dairy farm. My parents are happily married and don't face a lot of problems. They tell me that I'm made of 'one hundred percent' love and their relationship always will be. They love each other so much that they made five of us. Yes, I do have siblings. Four brothers, actually. Lance, Paul, and Chase are my older brothers. Lance is twenty-two now, and Paul and Chase are nineteen. They're twins, actually. My younger brother is named Josef and he is around thirteen, I think." Again, thinking of her family and the farm trigger emotions of homesickness. She wipes away another tear and laughs lightly under her breath. "We all live on the farm, on the east coast of Castles. It's really nice." Gracie chuckles again. "My Grammy lives with us. Her full name is Annemarie Pauline Olsen. That's where my brother, Paul, and I's first names come from. We don't face a lot of trouble in my family. There's not a lot of time for drama, and we all equally share work on the farm."
While you were talking, the principal had made himself comfortable by leaning back in his chair and intertwining his fingers. "Hmpf. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans in the future? Outside of AMG?"
Gracie thinks for a few moments, not sure on how exactly to answer. Honestly, she had never thought much about her future before. "I honestly don't know... I love it on the farm and I want to stay, but at the same time, I'd like to go to other places. Paris, Milan, Tokyo... all of those places. I want to be a veterinarian. I'd get to take care and be surrounded by animals all the time... I guess I just want to be happy. I want to grow up, marry, have a family. I have no idea where I'm going in life, but I hope it's somewhere nice."
He looks much more interested now, rather awake and in a slightly better mood. "Tell me, do you have any hobbies?" he inquired, creating soft jazz hands at the word 'hobbies' as if to mock it. "You're aware that it may be difficult to continue these on the island, as you may not leave outside of break?" It was more of a statement than a question.
"I like talking to animals and caring for them. I feel a connection towards them. I volunteer at animal shelters in the summer. I also enjoy reading, photography, sketching..."
The principal crossed his fat arms and leaned on his desk. In a much more serious tone, he asked, "Be honest, child. How do you feel about all of this...supernatural stuff?" his shoulders shrugged as he said it.
Gracie thinks for a moment or two, but it doesn't take long to respond. She knows exactly how she feels about the 'supernatural stuff'. "I don't think it's weird at all. I mean, of course it's kind of unusual to me and to other people. It makes me unique, that's for sure, but that's not the only reason I like having a power. I guess I really like it because I love animals, and it makes me feel even close to them. I love being to talk to and understand Deedee." she smiles, thinking that she has given him a good answer.
He leaned back on the chair that squeaked under his weight. "I see. Personally, I have mixed feelings. Anyway, we're finished now." The Principal grunted loudly as he got up to shake your hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, do you have any questions for AMG?" he added, as he let go of your hand and buzzed the receptionist to lead you out.
Gracie wondered what he meant by 'mixed feelings', but decided not to let herself worry about it. It couldn't mean anything bad, right? She was just happy this was over! It had been awkward for her, truthfully! Gracie smiled lightly and stood up, shaking his hand "Thank you, and it was nice to meet you." she tells him, "I don't have any questions, but I'll let you know. Thank you." she turns and allows the receptionist to lead her out.
