FOURTEEN. QUIET. PERCEPTIVE. STRAIGHT. SINGLE.
[classy=appdesc]Oh, hey Bowderville! Look who's it is! It's Alexa Rose Liever! Oh, uh... perhaps you know them by their nickname, Lexa? Anyway, this certain blessing in disguise came to us on February 28, and grew up to be a hefty 5’5”. You can always tell it's Alexa because of their blonde hair, blue eyes and crazy sense of style. Not to mention they've gotten themselves a tattoo! You know, everyone says they look like Saorise Ronan? I personally don't see it though ....

[classy=app1]The fat lard of a principal looked over his papers with a rather disinterested attitude. He noticed you sitting down, but doesn't really have the courtesy to look up from his desk. To you, he says out loud. "Let's begin sha'll we? Tell me the basic details about yourself." With a cough, he shuffled through is papers and glanced at you once through his small eye glasses.
Alexa shifted anxiously in her seat. She didn’t like the feel of this interview. She was always terrible about talking to people one on one, particularly when they were alone together. It didn’t help that the principal looked like a sex offender. But she couldn’t think about that if she wanted to get into the school. Her mother spoke so highly of this man and this school. She really believed that it could help her, so Alexa had agreed to give it a try. She felt awfully fidgety, though. She was nervous and all she wanted was to give in and start biting her nails like she usually did when she got like this, but she couldn’t do that now. She needed to seem confident.
“My name’s Alexa Liever,” she said, using all the effort she had so that it didn’t sound as shaky as she knew it would without working against it. “I’m fourteen. A freshman. And um. I guess that’s it.”
She rubbed her right thumb against her left wrist, feeling the slightly raised skin from the tattoo she’d gotten the day before. It was a parting gift from her mother, and a part of home. It also served as a reminder to keep calm. Inhale, Exhale. Just breathe, Alexa. It will be okay.
With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, threw his glasses on the desk and ran his chubby fingers through thinning, greasy hair. He pinched the nose of his bridge and closed his eyes tightly as he said, "You know about the truth of this place. Now, I didn't invite you personally, my staff did. So please, give me a run down of your power." With his eyes still shut, the principal gestured with one arm toward you to begin.
Alexa crinkled her face. Having her powers was trouble enough without talking about them or thinking about them or any of that messy stuff. It had complicated everything so much that she had actually had to be pulled out of school because there was no way she could function with all these things happening.
“I can see the future. At least, I think it’s the future. For all I know, it could be happening now, or it could have happened in the past. But it never applies to me. I don’t know the people I see and I never know if the things happen or not. I hate it. The visions can last for hours. I black out and when I wake up I get hideously sick and stuff. Sometimes I can’t walk for a while, or I throw up, or I just get these headaches so bad I can’t see. It makes me miserable. I had to leave school and my mom had to quit her job so she could take care of me and home school me, because it’s not safe for me to leave the house, really. That’s why I’m here. I hope that being here can make things change.”
She was actually surprised that she got so much out without stopping, especially since it was ordinarily so difficult for her to talk to people. Maybe this guy’s power was to help calm the nerves or something. It seemed unlikely, considering how apathetic he seemed to her, but one never really could tell.
She tugged lightly on the hem of her skirt. It was her favorite at the moment: a white denim with pink and blue flowers. It had actually been her younger sister’s, and it was technically too short for her, but considering how many pairs of tights Alexa had, length wasn’t really an issue because there was always something to keep her covered and everything. Her shirt today was rather plain, just a white fitted tee with thick, light gray stripes. She was trying to keep the eccentric dress to a minimum so they wouldn’t judge her on the way she looked.
Finally, his eyes opened groggily. However, he wasn't much warmer. He yawned loudly and largely as he looked over your paper. With eyes watery and face red he continued, "I see why we would have invited you. Let's see..ah yes. Mind telling a bit about your family and where you're from?"
Alexa shifted again, but it was more out of discomfort than nervousness this time. Talking about home was easy. She liked home. Home was comfortable.
“Well, I live with my mom, my thirteen year old sister, Kelsi, and my eight year old brother, Ricky. When I was five, my parents divorced, but they stayed amicable and lived next door to one another so that Kels and I could see both of them any time we wanted. Dad got remarried and his wife, Appoline, had twins after a few months, Nicholas and Richard.”
This is where it went downhill.
“When the boys were five, I was over at Dad’s house. He and Appoline were home cleaning and I was supposed to keep the twins out of trouble and stuff.
“And then the unimaginable happened. Someone broke in. It was the middle of the day and we lived in a relatively safe neighborhood. I was terrified, and my instinct was to try to hide. Ricky and I were behind the couch as the guy shot my dad, his wife, and Nicky, before he turned the gun on himself.”
Alexa wondered how that sounded to the principal, since she noticed about halfway through that she’d started crying. She wasn’t quite in hysterics, but it was getting kind of hard to breathe. It had been three years, but thinking about the blood and the death and how hard Ricky cried when he saw his twin’s body...
“It turned out that the guy was an ex of Appoline’s,” she said, once she had herself under control enough to talk. “Nobody’s really sure why he chose then to extract revenge. But he ruined everything. That’s when my visions started, actually. I guess they were sparked by the traumatic experience or something.”
Hopefully that was enough about her family. She wasn’t sure if she could talk about it anymore.
While you were talking, the principal had made himself comfortable by leaning back in his chair and intertwining his fingers. "Hmpf. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans in the future? Outside of AMG?"
Biting her lip, Alexa tried to figure out what exactly she wanted. She didn’t really think about the future much. It reminded her too much of her visions, which wasn’t something she liked to acknowledge.
“I guess I’d probably just like to be able to live my life without being constantly afraid of being overcome by my powers. And maybe I’d like to do something to help people overcome grief. I think it’s important to do something that is important to you personally, and after what happened with my family, I feel like I should help people in similar situations, since I can empathize. Does that make sense?”
He looks much more interested now, rather awake and in a slightly better mood. "Tell me, do you have any hobbies?" he inquired, creating soft jazz hands at the word 'hobbies' as if to mock it. "You're aware that it may be difficult to continue these on the island, as you may not leave outside of break?" It was more of a statement than a question.
“Um, well. I make buttons. Like, those pins that have little pictures or saying and whatnot on them. And I sometimes make jewelry out of clay. Like, pendants and rings and stuff. But I guess I’ll be okay without them. I mean. I already have too much jewelry,” she said, thinking of the several jewelry boxes she left back at home, full of pieces she bought and some she made. She’d only brought her favorites for practical reasons, since she was going to have a roommate, after all.
The principal crossed his fat arms and leaned on his desk. In a much more serious tone, he asked, "Be honest, child. How do you feel about all of this...supernatural stuff?" his shoulders shrugged as he said it.
She shrugged. “I guess the idea is okay. I don’t like mine because it makes me feel terrible. But I think in general they’re very interesting. They have the potential to be a really good thing for the world, but they could also be bad, so I’m not sure what to think.”
He leaned back on the chair that squeaked under his weight. "I see. Personally, I have mixed feelings. Anyway, we're finished now." The Principal grunted loudly as he got up to shake your hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, do you have any questions for AMG?" he added, as he let go of your hand and buzzed the receptionist to lead you out.
Standing up, she shook the man’s hand. “Er, no, not really. Thank you, though,” she said before leaving, glad to be finished with that whole ordeal.
