Panic and then rage. Terror and then Fury. If she had her lighter right now, or just the smallest of sparks, she would have set this damn place on fire by now. Everything would be up in flames as she watched from a safe distance singing popular songs about setting fire to the rain. It didn’t matter how hard her head hurt or how cold the floor was. She was far too pissed off to care about any of that. Far too determined to get the fuck out of this goddamn rope. She had been tied up before plenty of times but this one was tight and she could feel it ripping at the skin of her dainty little wrists and hands. She was so close though. Too close to give up. “Come on! Fuck!” |
she grunted loudly, not caring about the other two people lying on the cold stone floor beside her. Evan wiggled and twisted her wrists and arms and pushed the rope with her bound feet with every ounce of strength and adrenalin in her. She was so close. It was stuck at the thick part of her thumbs that bracelets always got caught at. “FUCK OFF!” she screamed as if that would help, pushing with a shrill cry of pain as she felt skin on both hands feel back. FREEDOM! Her hand shook wildly to her the rope off of it and she tossed it aside and instantly started working at her feet, ripping and tearing and pulling until it, too, joined the pile the other had made. Her hands stung and were bleeding but in the dimly lit cell of a room she didn’t really care. Instead she just crawled to the first figure in the room with her, whom she didn’t know just yet because it was too dark to tell, and started untying them as well. “I’ll get you out, just give me a bit,” she reassured in her best calm voice, which sounded pissed off and venomous. It was a teacher’s ropes she was untying right now, pulling at it with her teeth. [/div]

[style=width: 200px; font-family: century gothic; background-color: #ffffff; padding: 10px 10px 10px 10px;"]this is for evan & enid [/style] | Kady’s head was throbbing. That’s the first thing she noticed, the pain. A sharp seering kind, she winced as the sensation slowly then all at once hit her. A sharp intake of breath and the fluttering of eyes opening soon followed. The small girl was dazed, confused, and at that very moment would do anything for a bottle of aspirin. Naturally her first instinct was to move, jostle her body into alertness, and that’s when she realized she couldn’t. Kady tugged harder at what she was realizing was a restraint and squeaked when she found it hurt to do. Slowly the teens mind was piecing the entire scenario together. There had been a man, a nice man, there was idle conversation, she was about to retrieve her change from the coin slot of a vending machine and…? Nothing. After that it was all a blank.
Her first thought was that this was all just a horrible hideous dream. Any minute now her room mate would throw something at her or shake her to wake her from it, to stop her from struggling and writhing like mad, like she was doing. Panic had taken over her small form and instinct took over, breathing becoming heavier and faster as she tugged, hard, at the too tight rope binding her hands and feet, ignoring the pain as she did so. No. This was all wrong. There was no way this was happening, no way the suffocating darkness around her was real, it just wasn’t possible. After a few more moments of struggle Kady stopped, tears began to stream down her face and her head found the cold hard floor beneath her. Eyes closed as the girl wished it all away, prayed for it all to be some giant mistake, hoped that someone would wake her up soon.
Then she finally heard a voice, a female voice, speaking profanities. For a moment Kady ignored it, mistaking it for what had to be hallucinations, her losing her mind once and for all. However there was movement after a moment, someone was moving, the person said something about getting someone out and Kady’s stomach did a flip. "H-h--…" she started, "h-h-hello?". The desperation had to be clear in her soft, hoarse, voice. Even though the decibel at which she spoke was low, the growing fright and remaining panic had to show through. |

Evan’s hands shook as she fought to untie the woman’s ropes, her body running entirely off of adrenaline at this point. She just wanted out and she wanted to be safe and she wanted to wring the necks of whoever had put her—and the other two—here in the first place. Evan was terrified and it showed in her blazing blue eyes. She was terrified and feeling vulnerable and defeated and for someone as proud as she was that was never a good sign. She couldn’t get her hands to cooperate and she wasn’t sure if it was because of the injuries she had just sustained to her hands, or because she hadn’t eaten in what felt like a week or because of the adrenalin pumping through her veins. Her heart was beating so fast it might explode in her chest and she finally got the ropes off of the teacher’s hands and legs and immediately made her way to the third person in the room. Miss Mulligan was still unconscious at this point, so Evan focused her fiery attention on Kady.
This girl was awake now and Evan came up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder, hearing the desperation and wanting to console the girl as best as she could. Evan had never really been good at being supportive, but right now the last thing she needed was someone else to be as panicked as she was. She could only handle so much before she was ready to break down and Evan was reaching her maximum level of terror. “It’s okay, I’m going to untie you,” |
she spoke. Her voice cracked and trembled. She had never sounded so afraid in her life. She sounded, to herself, like a child as her voice echoed back to her against the stone walls. “I’m Evan. This might take me a bit to get them undone. I hurt my hands getting my own ropes off.” At the moment the fact that she had just ripped them off didn’t seem like that big of a deal, but later on she would realize how fucking stupid it was. Later when she had to deal with cleaning the open flesh that took up a good third of both of her hands and some of the bottom of her feet. “Just keep talking to me, okay? I’ll get you out.” At one point she had to lie herself down on the floor to use her teeth to pull rope, spitting little strands of it out onto the floor and finally pulling it all off of Kady’s hands and then going to her feet. [style=width: 200px; font-family: century gothic; background-color: #ffffff; padding: 10px 10px 10px 10px;"]this is for evan & enid [/style] | Kady felt like she was living in an absolute nightmare, like a horror movie, she felt like at any moment a hulking man with an axe could come crashing into the room to butcher them all. Panic began to rise in her throat as she contemplated the whole situation, confused and in pain. Her head ached and her wrists and ankles were stinging from her earlier struggles. The biggest question the girl had was ‘why’. Why would someone do this to her? What had she ever done to anyone to warrant this. Then it hit her, she had done something, a very big, very bad, something. Regardless of it being an accident, it still had happened and it had still been her doing. That didn’t make sense though, that could never be the reason. Because no one else had been involved, it was her own doing. So then… what was all this?
Kady’s mind was racing when she heard someone answer her meek call. The same voice from before. The petite girl’s heart soared, finally she knew she wasn’t alone, and soon, so soon, she’d be free from the ties binding her. She couldn’t help but struggle some more, momentarily, before wincing and just leaving the girl to it. Evan, her name was Evan! So she really was really and she was going to help her. “I-I-I…” she stammered, there was no way she could calm herself enough not to, it was all she could do not to lose it right then and there. “I-I’m K-Ka-Kady” she finished as quick as she could, trying to swallow the panic that so badly wanted to burst out. However Kady could hear the distress in the other girl’s voice as well, and she was determined not to make it worse.
“Wh-What h-happened?” she asked with a slight bit of total terror in her voice, “d-d-do y-you know wh-where we are?” Those were logical questions right, she could ask them right then and there, couldn’t she? For the life of her she hoped Evan had the answers. Then, suddenly she felt her hands freed and after a brief pause Kady couldn’t help herself. She practically leapt at Evan, wrapping her arms around the girl’s neck in a quick and sudden hug, fighting back tears forcing herself not to start sobbing. Kady didn’t even care at that point that she was touching someone, someone who probably had powers. She was just far too overjoyed to be able to move to some degree and that she wasn’t alone. More than anything Kady needed that comfort that only a hug could give. |

Her entire life she had taken pride in not showing hurt or fear. Not showing that she was weak because Brandyn needed her or her papa needed her or her daddy needed her. Mostly Papa, who could be so unstable sometimes. She always had to be strong. Always had to be the solid rock everyone needed for support. The ground that her friends and family stood on. Evan had a hero complex and right now she was trying so fucking hard to keep that up but her hands were shaking and she was terrified and hungry and cold and exposed and she didn’t even have a single thing to make a spark with. For the first time since she could recall she felt like a scared little girl and she hated it. She wanted to cry and Evan Lovato-Crane did not cry. She could not cry. Buck up and deal.
Honestly, she thought the girl’s stuttering was simply because she was scared and emotional, not that it was anything else. It made sense to be stuttering in a situation like this. Evan was having a hard time getting words out, herself, and she was a pretty fucking strong girl if she was allowed to say so about herself. “I’ll take care of you Kady,” |
she reassured, hoping her voice sounded more confident this time around. “I’ll get you know when I figure out,” she continued on. One second she was putting Tank back in his little home and the next she was here. She vaguely remembered fighting back but honestly there were better other things on her mind at the moment. For the moment Evan stopped answering her questions and worked at the ropes with her teeth until it was no longer needed and the girl, Kady, was free of the binds. There were little bits of rope stick to Evan’s bleeding hands and probably stone and dirt as well but she wasn’t really paying attention. And then suddenly she was being hugged which she probably should have seen coming. Evan’s arms wrapped around Kady and for a very brief moment she felt like maybe everything would be okay. But just to be sure she whispered a little prayer just quiet enough that her words couldn’t be made out. The fact that she was saying something was evident but what the words were weren’t that coherent. Evan finally pulled back and gave Kady’s shoulders a squeeze. “We need to get your feet free, and then work on getting that door open. I’m a pyro but I’m useless if I don’t have a spark. Anything you got in there—” She patted Kady on the shoulder to show that “in there” meant in Kady’s body or in other words her power. “Would probably be useful.” Hopefully this girl could make a spark or something. Anything, because she really didn’t want to have to smack rocks together until she made one. [/div]

[atrb=valign, top] Three weeks pass by. Solitary weeks where your only interactions are with one another and receiving bread and water from the guard. They seem unsure of what to do with you just yet, or maybe this is all a part of their plan. By the time a month of capture rolls around you're beginning to lose all hope. Starving and exhausted there's the sound of gunfire and parading feet on the stone and then the stone door is ripped open revealing dozens upon dozens of American Army members who've come to take you home. You and the other two members of your room are air lifted to Castles where your family is waiting for you, and you spend a week in the hospital to get you back to your normal health. The school has provided therapists that all of you attend twice a week and for the first two weeks after your hospital visit you're allowed to go back and forth between Grace Island and Castles to see your families. Take it easy now.
