[classy=appdesc]Oh, hey San Diego! Look who's it is! It's fullname! Oh, uh... perhaps you know them by their nickname, Maddy? Anyway, this certain blessing in disguise came to us on April 2nd, and grew up to be a hefty 5' 1''. You can always tell it's Maddy because of their beach-blonde hair, bright blue eyes and big smile. Not to mention they've gotten themselves one tattoo! You know, everyone says they look like AnnaSophia Robb? I personally don't see it though ....

[classy=app1]The fat lard of a principal looked over his papers with a rather disinterested attitude. He noticed you sitting down, but doesn't really have the courtesy to look up from his desk. To you, he says out loud. "Let's begin sha'll we? Tell me the basic details about yourself." With a cough, he shuffled through is papers and glanced at you once through his small eye glasses.
"Oh..." Maddy hadn't realized that the interview was going to be this direct and that the principal was going to be this .. cold. She tried to show some sympathy, since he did a very controversial school, but it was a bit difficult. Regardless, Maddy tried her best not to sound annoyed or agitated by his lack of interest. "I'm Madison O'Connor." she said with a smile, hoping for some kind of response. But when she didn't get one, she cleared her throat and tried to continue unfazed. "I'm seventeen years old, and from San Diego ... that would make me a senior at your ... school."
She was a bit hesitant to call it a school. Her parents were very against her going to this school, since they thought she was just being shipped off to an island because they can't accept her ... kind. They were very left wing people, and it was sometimes hard to live with them. Maddy was a bit confused if the Montessori was really a school or if the name was just a cover up, since her parents had it instilled in her mind that this was some kind of conspiracy.
With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, threw his glasses on the desk and ran his chubby fingers through thinning, greasy hair. He pinched the nose of his bridge and closed his eyes tightly as he said, "You know about the truth of this place. Now, I didn't invite you personally, my staff did. So please, give me a run down of your power." With his eyes still shut, the principal gestured with one arm toward you to begin.
Oh, so was it true? Were people with powers like her just put on this island like some kind of a jail? No, it couldn't be, or else people from around the world wouldn't be flocking to it. She took a moment to reply while she collected her thoughts. "I can manipulate water. Uh, I can move it, generate it, absorb it, you name it. Mind you, I'm not very good at it right now, but I'm pretty good."
Maddy thought back to the first time she had discovered her ability. It was way back when she was six or seven years old, and she was playing on the beach with her cousins. They had build an enormous and complicated (to a six year old) sand castle that towered over her. She was quite satisfied with their work, but soon came its demise. Wave after wave of crashing water took away bits and pieces of their hard work. Maddy had thrown a huge temper tantrum (which she admits, is one of her greatest weaknesses), while all of the sudden, the waves around her stopped moving. Eventually, they had built a wall that grew higher and higher, until it was tall enough to cast a shadow over the house. Her parents were terrified and had to shuffle her inside, before it could fall on them. But that was the turning point where Maddy and her parents knew she had special powers.
"I remember one time ... " she began, with a racing tone of enthusiasm in her voice but she glanced at him, only to see that he wasn't exactly paying attention. It dampened her mood, and she decided not to share her story after all. "But you probably don't want to hear it, so..."
Finally, his eyes opened groggily. However, he wasn't much warmer. He yawned loudly and largely as he looked over your paper. With eyes watery and face red he continued, "I see why we would have invited you. Let's see..ah yes. Mind telling a bit about your family and where you're from?"
"Like I said, I'm from San Diego, it's this really sunny town in California." excitement filled her words. "And no, not all people from California are crazy," Maddy had snapped a bit. It was on of her biggest pet peeves, not to mention Maddy had a temper.
"I grew up with both of my parents, Kristopher and Alexandria O'Connor. I know, the names are so generic, but whatever. They're really ... insightful, and very left wing. All about love and peace. But that's just who they are." Maddy shrugged. It was true, her parents were very laid back and almost hippy like. They seemed to like anything that was controversial and out there. Like right now, they're going through a Lady Gaga phase.
"They're kind of crazy, but they're truly amazing. I also have a younger brother and a younger sister, Yuri and Quinn. They have supernatural powers too, but I'm sure you've probably known about them already." she smiled daintily.
"Anyway, we all grew up in this huge beach house my mother had inherited when Poppy had died. Right outside our back door was the beach, and we would spend hours out there just surfing and playing with the sand and collecting shells. We were home-school too, up until now. So yeah. You can say that I am totally not a stranger to sunburn and sand in my clothes." Maddy laughed a unique chuckle, one that was not matched by the principal and quickly faded away into painful silence.
While you were talking, the principal had made himself comfortable by leaning back in his chair and intertwining his fingers. "Hmpf. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans in the future? Outside of AMG?"
"I know this may sound cheesy, but I want to be a marine biologist? I don't know, something with the ocean." she pulled some hair behind her ear and her eyes seemed to twinkle. "I've just spent my whole life by the water, and I'm such a good swimmer already. I even have my own pet turtle, Astro! There is nothing I love more than being in the water. I just want to make a career out of that." Maddy shrugged innocently again. She had this incredible girl-next-door vibe about her that was hard to ignore, even for the principal.
"Other than that, I hope to perhaps travel the world? My parents did it when they first got married. Toured Asia and Africa. They have so many pictures from it, I just wish to do it too. It just made them totally detached to material things and totally mellow." she bobbed her head three times, indicating it was the principal's cue.
He looks much more interested now, rather awake and in a slightly better mood. "Tell me, do you have any hobbies?" he inquired, creating soft jazz hands at the word 'hobbies' as if to mock it. "You're aware that it may be difficult to continue these on the island, as you may not leave outside of break?" It was more of a statement than a question.
"Um... surfing? And swimming." she had thought that was implied before. This guy was really getting on her nerves and it was starting to irritate her. "You didn't catch--Anyway, yeah. I don't think it'd be too hard, actually. I can swim on the beach here ... it's just the surfing and the weather I'm concerned about. I guess it's a lot different, but I'll make it work."
She thought for a moment as to their policies about leaving the island outside of breaks. In a way, she thought it was cruel for them to cage students up on an island like that ... but then she thought about all those rich-kid boarding schools and places like that. It had made a bit of sense, but there was no doubt in her mind that she was going to try and sneak out once in a while.
The principal crossed his fat arms and leaned on his desk. In a much more serious tone, he asked, "Be honest, child. How do you feel about all of this...supernatural stuff?" his shoulders shrugged as he said it.
Maddy contemplated this question for a moment. Truthfully, this thought has been bouncing through her mind for ages now, it was just hard to put words to her ideas. "Hmm ... I uh, think it just over complicates things. I mean, we already go to like twelve years of school minimum just to survive in this world we've created for ourselves. And now we brought in these ... supernatural powers? It's unnatural, yeah, but it's also now really complicated."
She looked down in her lap for a moment, feeling blood rushing to her cheeks as she got a bit fired up. Her temper was close to the surface if you provoke it, and she seemed to be sensitive in this topic. "It's just frustrating, that's all." Maddy closed her eyes and rubbed the side of her temple, breathing slowly so she could calm herself down.
He leaned back on the chair that squeaked under his weight. "I see. Personally, I have mixed feelings. Anyway, we're finished now." The Principal grunted loudly as he got up to shake your hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, do you have any questions for AMG?" he added, as he let go of your hand and buzzed the receptionist to lead you out.
Maddy breathed a sigh of relief, happy that the interview was over. It was uncomfortable and a process she would not want to go through again. "Nope, no questions. Thanks so much for meeting with me." she nodded and shook his hand, and then quickly shuffled out of the office with a great sense of relief.
