Not so much for nature, but because she found being inside incredibly boring. Today was a sunny warm day out, and so she would be eating lunch outside. Lunch consisted of a salad and apple juice. Since she was one of the first outside, she had her pick of tables. She walked away from everyone and picked a table that was out of any sort of shade, on the edge of everything. For now, it was empty. Normally, she would have found someone to sit with but today Cryss wanted to see who would sit with her, instead. She hadn't been at her school, long, but she'd had good luck with making friends thus far. In order to make herself look more approachable, Cryss decided against putting her iPod on. She had memorized almost all five hundred songs on it, anyway. Nearly 300 of those were country songs, the rest party songs. Cryss kept it on country most of the time, to be careful of accidentally turning into a disco ball in the middle of class. She didn't think that the students at AMG would be as weirded out as the kids at her old school, but it was a pretty big red flag to her teachers that she had her iPod on. "They called 'em crazy when they started out; said seventeen's too young to know what love's about. . ." Cryss was probably being too loud, but she had found it difficult to tell since she had come to AMG. Her heightened hearing didn't usually make a difference, but all the practice with her power was making them overly sensitive. She wasn't a fan of it, especially since she hadn't seen any progress that she considered very positive. What she really wanted to learn how to do was make the light more tangible. She'd done it twice before, but nothing so far since she had started classes here. She had tried practicing outside of class but could never focus for long enough. It took a lot of energy just to light up, and even more to change the color, and after that she had to make it intensely bright before she could even begin to think about making it move things. Plus, she suspected that instructor for her special power class had the ability to focus the students' powers. It would make sense, but it sure made trying to get better on your own a bitch. Rora's absolute favorite time of the day - save every moment she wasn't in school. Sure, she might sound like the typical teenage boy, but there wasn't anything wrong with a girl who had a healthy relationship to food, was there? As she admired the little irresistible sandwich she had made on her plate, she forgot to look up, and nearly collided with some dude. Idiot. Both her and her damned voice chided herself for her lack of attention. Okay, okay. So that wasn't the smartest thing she had ever done. She had done stuff a hell of a lot worse than that, though, so she didn't know why both of them were overreacting. Good gracious. Breathing a soft sigh, she glanced up at the courtyard. Oh, damn. There was no open spots. And that's what she gets for taking her sweet time gathering her stuff. And buying her food. And making sure she looked presentable... As much as she liked being alone, she wasn't about to reenter the building she had just exited to eat in the inside cafeteria. Outdoors were so much more relaxing, and it wasn't worth even solitude. So, her only chance at eating was sitting with a total stranger. Hmm.. Which one, which one? Her eyes landed on a table with a boy and a girl, both talking quietly. They both looked nice. She started to walk towards their table, and then instantly swerved away from them when they started one intense make-out session. She could just imagine that conversation: Rora: Is there room here?Answer: sounds of lips being smashed together with extreme intensity. Nope. That wasn't about to happen. Her green eyes landed on a secluded table, out in the corner of the courtyard. There was one girl there, by herself. In fact, that was the only table that had less than two members sitting at it. Ahh, yes. That was more her speed. She strut over to the table as if she did it everyday, and sat down across from the girl, no questions asked. [/classy]

Cryss had watched her walk over and grinned a little bit at her immediate switch in attitudes. Cryss glanced down at her bowl of salad to try and figure out how much time had lapsed between her sitting down and this girl showing up. She had hardly eaten anything, but then again, it was hard to eat while you sang. She suddenly decided that she was starving and stuffed a forkful of lettuce in her mouth. "Hi, there! I'm Cryssy. You're cute. We should be friends," she said through her mouthful of lettuce. It might have been bad manners, but she didn't really care very much. She gave the newcomer a once-over, trying to decide whether she liked her or not. Cryss wasn't particularly picky with the company she kept, but she needed friends and she didn't want to start off by making the wrong ones. This girl, though, seemed innocent enough. Plus, she wasn't bad to look at. Appearance only falls at number three in importance on Cryss's list of mandatory qualities in a person. First was their willingness to have sex with her, and second was, "If none, are they cool enough for me to disregard that fact?" The answer to that wasn't yes very often. "You looked a little lost for a minute. Lucky you didn't sit down with those two sucking face. That would have been way awkward, unless you started up a three way in the middle of the courtyard. That would have totally made my day." Cryss thought that maybe she should keep her thoughts to herself so as not to scare her new potential friend off right away, but then she decided that she didn't care. She was who she was, and if this girl didn't like that, then she could go back to the table with the scarily entwined teenagers. She continued to eat her salad, wondering at her mood today. She was usually ridiculously hyper and talkative. She assumed it was the lack of music. Or maybe it was just the new environment that she was still getting used to. Whatever it was, she hoped she got over it soon. It was no fun being this down. [/classy]

She grinned, trying hard not to show Cryssy her food. Pssh, yeah, right. Like that was ever going to happen. She didn't doubt that the friendly girl was flashed with a mouthful of half-chewed sandwich. Oh, well. Can't win them all, right? Chewing quickly, she half-swallowed and spoke, stuffing the food in the side of her mouth, so she looked like a very cute chipmunk. " I'm Rora. You're pretty cute, yourself." She didn't reply to the 'we should be friends' remark. Honestly, she didn't feel the need to answer. It didn't really sound like a question, just a statement, so she steered clear of replying. She didn't want to seem more socially awkward as she just did with the 'do you like seafood?' act that had just went on previously. Quite frankly, Rora had three categories she put people in. Enemies, friends, or those few people who crossed the friend mark and entered into the 'i love you' zone. Jus t black and white. No in between. Most people she met were categorized into the first, seeing as the damned voice in her head prevented anything otherwise. Sometimes, however, she is able to push the annoying thing back and make her own judgments. This seemed to be one of those times. The amusing comment she made just enhanced her thoughts of the cute girl. She giggled lightly at Cryssy's comment, which was slightly un-Rora-like. She didn't usually giggle, and it sorta surprised her. " I was thinking about yanking them apart and sitting between them. I figured it would be fairly amusing. And not at all awkward." She was joking, of course, although the thought did cross her mind temporarily. She would have reveled in the hilariously bewildered expressions she would probably had warranted from the two of them. She herself wasn't very ladylike in any account. In fact, little Rora earned herself a bit of respect for not being afraid to show off her less-than-cute side. It took Cryss several minutes to dissect Rora's response and decide whether it was flirting, she was trying to be cool, or if she was just confident in herself. She hated when people were confusing, but she also didn't mind the fun of trying to figure them out. You know, depending on how quickly she wanted in their pants. She figured, though, with Rora, that she could bide her time. They had a decent amount of time left in the school year. Things could be figured out then. "Don't I know it," she said, after a few seconds' pause. She flashed a slight smirk, but didn't let it last long. Cryss loved to talk about herself, but only if she started the conversation. If she was just bouncing off of someone's compliment, it tended to be shaky and awkward. Cryss rolled her eyes and moved a bit of her hair out of her face. "I, personally, would have you kicked you out of the seat and continued to make out with my significant other. However, I have no significant other and PDA is kind of stupid at that degree. But they look like they would have been pretty pissed off. I mean, look, they're still at it." Cryss gestured to the couple behind Rora with her right hand and a disapproving expression. She wished people could just learn to keep their mouths to themselves when other people were around. Cryss decided, then, that she knew much less about this girl than she wanted to. She was a curious person by nature. That, and she figured that talking about the aggressive couple was going to run out really soon. "Anyway, I'm a sophomore, even though I'm 17. I failed seventh grade. Repeating was maybe the worst experience of my life. Uuuuh, I can turn sound energy into light. It's really exhausting and sometimes I do it by accident--my roommate has to deal with a constant night light if music is playing loud enough--and it makes my ears sensitive. I occasionally have mental breakdowns because I'm an unstable, damaged little girl, and I'm a whore who likes everyone. Your turn. I wanna know all the juicy details. Okay, maybe not, but enough to call you my friend." Cryss was hopping, just a little, that girl might ask more about her breakdowns or how exactly she was damaged. She never passed up an opportunity to whine about her past life, though she must say that she was good at saying it nonchalantly enough to get away with it most of the time. [/classy]

No, she didn't really mind when people were... talkative about themselves. Rora found it easier to listen than anything else. Around people she wasn't too sure about, the pretty girl didn't often talk, herself. It wasn't like she was trying not to make an ass of herself, no, she didn't need much help in that department. It seemed to come naturally to her, and she had learned to accept it. To be totally honest, the one and only reason the seventeen year old didn't talk much before she knew a person was to make out their character. That was, in her experience, the quickest, easiest way to unravel their true nature. So far, this adorable redhead in front of her seemed all right. As Cryssy commented on the PDA that was getting quite out of hand, she twisted around to glance behind her. The smirk that danced on her lips widened into a flat-out grin. " I wonder if they will stop anytime soon. Probably not." She mused aloud, not bothering to realize that she was kind of failing at the whole 'good first impression' thing. Oh, well. Maybe the cute sophomore would stick around long enough to get a second one. A small chuckle escaped her mouth as she turned back to fix her green eyes on Cryssy again. Quite frankly, Rora didn't mind talking about herself, unless it came to her past. She absolutely loathed talk about her history, and anyone who asked about it was instantly marked as an enemy. She tensed slightly as Cryssy started talking about herself, waiting for any talk about her history. Well, there was none, except for the 'damaged little girl' remark. Huh. As Cryssy made that little comment, she raised an eyebrow, obviously curious. Words itched in the back of her throat, wanting to question the girl on that statement. However, she was godawful at reading people's emotions, and wouldn't have picked up on a hint if it smacked her in the face. Clueless, she didn't ask about the girl's past, in hopes she wouldn't ask about her own. " I'm a junior, and I'm seventeen, too. No flunking, here. Though, I think I might have come close before. My teachers have always hated me. Lets, see... I can teleport, anywhere I want, as long as I have seen the place before. Oooh, and I'm a paranoid schizophrenic. Little voices and all." She flashed another grin towards Cryssy, obviously not embarrassed at all with her little mental disease. [/classy]
