the little boy asked in his horse sick voice. Takhasis gasped in mock insult. “It’s an owl sitting in a tree!” was his answer, sounding all insulted and hurt that his work of pure artistic genius. “Tousan, it looks like an old shoe!” The boy erupted into a fit of giggles with a few coughs in between, which was met by the father scooping his son up under one arm while he flailed and squealed loudly. The dog’s ears perked up at the noise but she stayed on her bed in the corner for now with her favorite stuffed rabbit squished under her giant chest. “Wait! Wait! Bobo!” Oops, he’d forgotten to grab Jo’s blanket when he picked the boy up. But all was good and jolly and back to squeals and giggles when Bobo the Blanket was safe in Jo’s hands. “I’ll show you an old shoe!”

As Takhasis carried the five year old toward the door Thor, the dog, started barking in a manner that alerted the household that someone was approaching the door. The plan had been to carry him to the shoe rack and threaten to drop him into an old shoe but clearly their plans were changing. So Takhasis just held Jo under his arm like a sack of old potatoes while Jo wrapped his blanket around his face so only his eyes poked out. “Who iiiiis it?” “I haven’t even opened the door yet, kid.” Impatient little prince. He managed to get the door open before there was even a knock, stepping aside to let the woman come in. “If he gets you sick it’s not our fault, but come in.” “Don’t forget your shoes!” The tiny boy pointed to the matt guest shoes were placed on and then emerged form his blanket hat to give Belle a big smile and grabby hands.
