SIXTEEN. MANIPULATIVE. CHARISMATIC. HETEROSEXUAL. SINGLE.
[classy=appdesc]Oh, hey Esberg, Denmark! Look who's it is! It's Veronica Allison Nielsen! Oh, uh... perhaps you know them by their nickname, Vonny, Ronnie, and Vannie? Anyway, this certain blessing in disguise came to us on December 28th, and grew up to be a hefty 5’5”. You can always tell it's Veronica because of their white hair, pale blue-red, sometimes purple eyes and albinism and plump lips. Not to mention they've gotten themselves a lovely bunch of coconuts! You know, everyone says they look like Nastya Zhidkova? I personally don't see it though ....[/classy]

20 Day Family Challenge
Day 1: Are friends more important than family? A lot of my friends make up who I consider my family. The very close ones, the ones that I consider family, are just as important as my parents and siblings are. My friends in general aren’t as important as my family is but the ones I am closest to mean just as much as my brother or sisters.
Day 2: Are chores assigned to children in your family? No. There are people hired to do the chores. Why would I ever have to do them?
Day 3: Are you pressured by your family to act in a certain way? Circumstantially. My sisters expect me to be some sort of successful lawyer or doctor type of person as if because I don’t necessarily look like them I must have to compensate for my appearance by having power in my career. They think I’m insecure about my albinism so they pressure me into chasing careers I don’t want. But their opinion doesn’t matter.
Day 4: Are you the oldest amongst your brothers and sisters? Youngest. I have two older sisters and one older brother.
Day 5: Are your parents strict? No.
Day 6: Did you ever meet any of your great grandparents? My great grandmother on my father’s side.
Day 7: Do you get along well with your family? Yes and no. Siblings always fight. It happens. But I love them never the less. My parents…well they’re wrapped around my baby finger so I don’t really need to get along with them.
Day 8: Do you have any brothers or sisters? If so, how old are they? What are their names? Do you get along with them? I’ll go from eldest to youngest. Anya is twenty-six and I don’t see her enough to be able to get along with her. Claus is twenty-five and we get along very well. He’s always been very protective and nurturing with me. Camille is his twin sister, also twenty-five and we’re also rather close. I suppose the closest of my sisters. And then last is Margaret and she’s twenty-one and we fight the most.
Day 9: Does your mother make you clean your room? No.
Day 10: Do you like your family? Why or why not? Not really. We’re very different people. I love them but they aren’t the most pleasant people.
Day 12: Do you look more like your mother or your father? My features are more like my father’s but my pigment, or lack thereof, don’t come from either. There’s no history of albinism in either side of my family so it’s a mystery where it came from.
Day 13: Do you often argue with your mother or father? What about? Very frequently about very small things. They attempt to control and shelter me all of a sudden after sixteen years of letting me do whatever I please.
Day 14: Do you often visit your grandparents? Yes but I only have one remaining grandparent, my mother’s mother.
Day 15: Do you usually have any influence on family matters? Yes. I usually have the most influence.
Day 16: Do your parents let you stay out late? What time do you have to be home? Do you have a curfew? Yes they do. I’m supposed to be home by eleven on a school night but I don’t usually obey that.
Day 17: How did you get your name? For whom are you named? I’m not named for anyone. My parents simply liked the name Veronica.
Day 18: How big is your family? Not very. Both of my parents are only children.
Day 19: How many first cousins do you have? How often do you see them? None so not at all.
Day 20: How many aunts and uncles do you have? None.
20 Day Places Challenge
Day 1: Where is the farthest place from home that you have traveled to? Does moving from Copenhagen to New Jersey count? If not then I guess New Zealand. From Jersey to New Zealand.
Day 2: What is the nicest place you’ve ever been to? Attitude wise, Esberg. Looks wise, Kolding in Denmark.
Day 3: What is the ugliest place you’ve ever been to? New York City.
Day 4: What is the most fun place you’ve ever been to? Amsterdam.
Day 5: What is the most boring place you’ve ever been to? This damn island.
Day 6: What is the most amazing place you’ve ever been to? China.
Day 7: What is the cleanest place you’ve ever been to? Most of the places in Denmark and Germany.
Day 8: What is the dirtiest place you’ve ever been to? New York City.
Day 9: What is the calmest place you’ve ever been to? Castles, I guess.
Day 10: What is the hottest place you’ve ever been to? I don’t go to exotic places that get too hot. I usually go in the cooler seasons, since I can’t be out in the sun for too long. I guess the hottest place was New Zealand.
Day 11: What is the coldest place you’ve ever been to? Manchester was freezing when I went there. Not that I mind. I like the cold.
Day 12: What is the calmest place you’ve ever been to? Repeated question.
Day 13: What is the nosiest place you’ve ever been to? New York City, again.
Day 14: What is the quietest place you’ve ever been to? Hm. That’s a tough one. This island I suppose.
Day 15: What is the most mysterious place you’ve ever been to? China.
Day 16: What is the most romantic place you’ve ever been to? Berlin.
Day 17: What is the strangest place you’ve ever been to? The Island of Dolls. It’s south of Mexico City. I didn’t use Mexico City as the hottest place because we went when it was the coldest average temperature there.
Day 18: What is the most tropical place you’ve ever been to? Mexico City.
Day 19: What is the most interesting place you’ve ever been to? There’s something interesting in every city, but I guess China since it feels like they are simultaneously ahead and behind of the times. The culture isn’t one I’m very well versed in so it was really amazing to see some of the traditions.
Day 20: What is the best place you’ve ever been to? Berlin will always have my heart.
20 Day Memory Challenge
Day 1: Talk about a memory you have with your parents. Uhg. I don’t know I suppose the day that explained albinism to me. In full detail as much as they understood. I was seven.
Day 2: Talk about a memory you have with your siblings. If you don’t have siblings, talk about a memory you have with cousins. I’ll admit that I haven’t always enjoyed being different. There was one instance when I was feeling particularly ugly. I was probably about six and my brother, Claus, brought me onto his lap and asked me what was wrong. “I don’t want to be different,” I admitted to him. He shook his head and dried my tears with his sleeve and held me close and announced that he was going to tell me a story. “Vonny, you were made of the whitest of snow and the coldest of ice and the most beautiful of winters. You’re different because you’re far greater than anyone else in this world. You’re a princess who’s part of this family because you’d be in danger in your own world.” As silly as it was, six year old me believed him—that I was a princess of a snowy land.
Day 3: Talk about a memory you have with a friend. This memory is the instance in which I realized that I’m more than just a greedy, selfish bitch. It was the moment I realized that always getting what I wanted was more than just being demanding, it was something more…other worldly. I had a friend named Hillary with whom I had a very odd relationship with. We were the type of friends who constantly insulted one another. There was an instance in which I sarcastically informed her that she was breathing my air and as a result she stopped breathing. Wheezing and coughing and gasping desperately for air. I thought she was joking around but the horrified look on her face was too genuine to be a joke. In a panic I told her I would share my air with her and she was fine. Such a pleasant memory.
Day 4: What’s your earliest memory? I think my earliest memory is a doctor’s visit. I don’t really know how old I was at the time but I’m guessing three or four. It was an eye doctor’s appointment, the first time I was given glasses.
Day 5: What is your most vivid memory? During the same week in which the friend memory happened I was battling with the thought of having some sort of power to control people. I began to wonder what it was that had caused Hillary to stop breathing. A few days after the event with Hillary I was sitting in the game room with Camille’s boyfriend of the time. He was making snide comments about the incredibly thick glasses I had to wear and my retort was, “I wouldn’t have to wear them if you hadn’t stolen my eyesight.” The instant the words came out of my mouth my vision started improving to the point where the glasses made everything look ten times worse. Camille’s boyfriend was screaming and freaking out about how he couldn’t see and the chef ended up taking him out to be driven home. For the longest time I wore fake glasses so my parents didn’t get suspicious and think me far more of a freak than I already was. In the end the eye doctor gave me away by being stunned at the sudden improvement in my vision. Neither of us had a logical, scientific explanation and left it at a “miracle”. Later, after more experimenting with the context of my ability, I told Camille’s boyfriend of the time—the same man who I obtained my eyesight back from—that he had taken the part of my nervous system that caused my involuntary eye movement that’s linked to albinism. Involuntary eye movement, cataracts and astigmatism are no longer an issue for me.
Day 6: Are there some things/times/people you will never forget? Talk about it. See above.
Day 7: Are there some things/times/people you wish you could forget? Talk about it. Not really. Everything I’ve ever experienced has helped shame who I am today. Without these memories I wouldn’t be the same. I mean, sure I’d like to forget about my bullies and insecurities but that wouldn’t achieve anything.
Day 8: If you could edit your memories, which ones would you erase and why? Sigh. See above.
Day 9: Do you have a photographic memory? Do you know anyone with a photographic memory? I don’t have a photographic memory, as I used to be legally blind and couldn’t really see anything to warrant developing a photographic memory. I know one of my sisters does though and probably a vast majority of my artistic friends.
Day 10: What memory is your happiest? Getting my eyesight back.
Day 11: What memory is your saddest? Finding out my grandfather had died. He told the greatest stories.
Day 12: What memory is your funniest? Any story my grandfather ever told me was always hilarious.
Day 13: What memory is your scariest? Moving from Denmark to America. Travelling to exotic places for vacation was one thing but moving to a new country was horrifying. Especially when I had just started to have people get used to me.
Day 14: What are your best memories from elementary school? Making friends, I suppose. Doing well. Being liked and being accepted.
Day 15: What are your best memories from junior high school? During the period in my life in which I started to gain more self confidence there was a boy who used to always help me out when I was having a hard time. Small and subtle things that no one else really seemed to notice or care about. There was a group of people who called me really cruel names for the way that I looked and this boy came to school the next day with his hair, eyebrows and eye lashes all dyed as white as he could get them. It was very inspiring that someone would go to such lengths for me. It’s a shame he was an idiot.
Day 16: What are your best memories from high school? So far…none. This place is horrible and I want out of it.
Day 17: What are your worst memories from elementary school? My very first day of school was my worst day. I had never really thought much about the way I look until the first day of kindergarten. It wasn’t something that had ever been brought to my attention until then, since my family and the people I had grown up around had never really cared. But when we were sitting in our little circle going around playing an ice breaker game some boy started crying because he was scared of my red eyes. (They get less red with age, just to inform the general public.) It was the first time being different had ever really been brought to my attention. The entire class erupted with questions about why I looked so weird.
Day 18: What are your worst memories from junior high school? The same boy who dyed his hair for me invited me to a party his older brother was throwing. Having never been invited to such a thing I went with him. There was a lot of under aged drinking and he tried to get me to smoke marijuana after I told him I wanted no part in it. Yes, in junior high. He got really angry with me when I wouldn’t do the things he wanted: smoke, drink, make out with him, take off my shirt. I ended up storming out and going home. The following day he had dyed all his hair back to his natural color and spread rumors that I was a hermaphrodite. I pulled him aside after gym class. No one was around. We were completely alone. I moved in to kiss him as he had so desperately craved the night before, gave him a taste of what he wanted, and then whispered to him. “That’s my air you’re breathing and I’d like it back.” As a result he stopped breathing, wheezing and gasping for breath just as Hillary had. Only this time I walked away. His death was considered an asthma attack.
Day 19: What are your worst memories from high school? All of them. I loathe this school.
Day 20: What’s one memory you hope to never forget in your lifetime? All of them but mostly any of the ones involving Claus.
