STETSON TONY GILLIAM
SEVENTEEN. GOOFY. BROSEEFUS. HETERO. SINGLE.
Oh, hey Skanereales! Look who's it is! It's Stetson Tony Gilliam! Oh, uh... perhaps you know them by their nickname, Tony-bro? Anyway, this certain blessing in disguise came to us on June 17, and grew up to be a hefty 5' 11". You can always tell it's Tony because of their black hair, blue eyes and goofy smile. Not to mention they've gotten themselves no tattoos! You know, everyone says they look like Logan Lerman? I personally don't see it though ....
The fat lard of a principal looked over his papers with a rather disinterested attitude. He noticed you sitting down, but doesn't really have the courtesy to look up from his desk. To you, he says out loud. "Let's begin sha'll we? Tell me the basic details about yourself." With a cough, he shuffled through is papers and glanced at you once through his small eye glasses.
Tony leaned back in his chair and an easy grin formed on his lips. A few minutes ago he had been nervous, but with the thought of his sisters still in his mind and a belly full of greasy junk food, he was placated and comfortable now. He couldn't see this going anywhere but up, even if the principal was a little bit rude. He had to be tired after running a school like this, right?
"My name's Stetson Gilliam, but most people call me Tony--that's my middle name. I've been called Stet, too. I'm hoping to be a junior here." His grin became a cheeky smile and he pushed a hand through his wet hair. His mother had just barely managed to get him up in time to take one.
"Uh, at my old school I did pretty well in school, I guess. I have a huge problem with math, though. And they might have sent you my behavior record . . . It was all in good clean fun. That counts for something right?" Tony would never call himself charming, but he's got a thing for smiling at just the right times in just the right way. It's his one talent, aside from soccer.
With a sigh, he leaned back in his chair, threw his glasses on the desk and ran his chubby fingers through thinning, greasy hair. He pinched the nose of his bridge and closed his eyes tightly as he said, "You know about the truth of this place. Now, I didn't invite you personally, my staff did. So please, give me a run down of your power." With his eyes still shut, the principal gestured with one arm toward you to begin.
Tony straightened in his chair. Despite hiding him from everyone, his power made him a bit insecure. He thought it made people trust him less.
"I can turn invisible," he answered gruffly, demonstrating momentarily with his hand. He held it up with a sheepish smile. Starting at the fingertips, the colors began to leak out of his hand. Tony was still trying to process his ability; he wasn't exactly sure how he did it.
Much faster than it had gone, his hand reappeared. Tony let it drop and turned his gaze back to the professor with a grin. "I'm still getting used to it. I didn't discover it until real recently. Scared my mom half to death when she saw a sweatshirt and jeans but no Tony." He was able to keep from laughing aloud at this memory. "Anyway, I've been told about the genetic business since then, and I think it was probably my dad, but I'm not totally sure. I never really met my dad."
Tony shrugged and reached up to push his bangs out of his eyes. "Anyway, my mom had sure heard of it at least. I've been trying to get it under control since I found out, but I still have my moments. I wake up completely invisible most mornings. It's getting easier to get back to normal, but I still haven't figure out exactly how I do it, which is the hardest part. Getting back is easy; it's like there's a place in my mind, sort of like a string that I can pull on. Like with those old fashioned lights, you know? I just pull on it. It's hard to find, sometimes. Even harder if I'm stressed out.
Tony was really eager to start training with his ability. He wanted to be able to change and come back at will. He thought, idly, that it would have been really cool if he had gotten super speed. He wondered if there was anyone at this school who could do that.
Finally, his eyes opened groggily. However, he wasn't much warmer. He yawned loudly and largely as he looked over your paper. With eyes watery and face red he continued, "I see why we would have invited you. Let's see..ah yes. Mind telling a bit about your family and where you're from?"
Tony positively beamed at the mention of his family. There wasn't anything more important to him in the world than his two baby sisters. He could talk about them for hours on end and then you'd still have to stop him yourself.
"Well, I've lived in the same tiny town my whole life. My dad walked out on my mom right after she had me. I have an older sister, too, but I don't see much of her. She left as soon as she got the chance. We were really close, though." The bitter thought cause Tony to falter for a moment. Stella had been very important to him when they were younger. She'd made him into the competitive, loving young man he was now, but when she left, it had all but crushed him to bits.
"Just before that, though, my mom got remarried. Jorge is a nice enough guy. We don't have much of a relationship, though. He works a lot and I sleep and play soccer when he isn't working." Tony laughed at that thought. "He and my mom had the twins two years or so after they were married. They're five now. They're adorable. I'd do anything for 'em."
He paused again, to remind himself not to talk too much about his sisters. "Anyway, uh, I was raised up on real small-town values. Go to church every weekend, respect women and my elders, all that good stuff. It was a nice way to grow up, I think." Tony takes a certain amount of pride in his upbringing. While he's occasionally self conscious about being too Hick Town around his friends, he loves his home town and he loves his extended family there.
While you were talking, the principal had made himself comfortable by leaning back in his chair and intertwining his fingers. "Hmpf. You should fit right in. May I ask, what are your plans in the future? Outside of AMG?"
Tony wasn't too put off by this question, since he was still caught up in the bittersweet emotions that came with talking about his family. However, he was no longer smiling.
"I haven't really put too much thought into it," he said lamely. Tony wasn't really one to think about the future. He was a take-it-as-it-comes sort of guy. He wasn't really sure that it would, but he couldn't help being a little paranoid that this might be the reason he didn't get in.
He looks much more interested now, rather awake and in a slightly better mood. "Tell me, do you have any hobbies?" he inquired, creating soft jazz hands at the word 'hobbies' as if to mock it. "You're aware that it may be difficult to continue these on the island, as you may not leave outside of break?" It was more of a statement than a question.
Tony puffed up his bangs with a heavy sigh. "I'm pretty athletic, but I'm mostly into soccer and water-skiing. I play a little guitar here and there, too, but it's not my passion."
Tony suddenly wished that the principal would ask about his family again. At least then he would have something more interesting to say.
The principal crossed his fat arms and leaned on his desk. In a much more serious tone, he asked, "Be honest, child. How do you feel about all of this...supernatural stuff?" his shoulders shrugged as he said it.
Tony leaned back in his chair and took a moment to assess his opinion. His first thought was of the excitement he'd carried with him ever since he had found out about. He felt a little shortchanged, there, because all the other students were probably really familiar with their abilities by now, and here was, treating his like he was a child that had just discovered The Most Amazing Toy in the Universe.
"Well, I think it's pretty thrilling. The whole idea of it. For some powers, anyway. A lot of them can be dangerous. I feel like the school is sort of a safe place, but at the same time, isolating us can make us feel a little more left out all the time, you know? All in all, I'm in favor of it."
He leaned back on the chair that squeaked under his weight. "I see. Personally, I have mixed feelings. Anyway, we're finished now." The Principal grunted loudly as he got up to shake your hand. "It was a pleasure meeting you, do you have any questions for AMG?" he added, as he let go of your hand and buzzed the receptionist to lead you out.
Tony shook his head no and stood up, reaching over to shake the principal's hand. His mother had taught him a long time ago that if you don't shake a man's hand before you leave his office, it is one of the most supreme offenses. Tony didn't really share her opinion, but he did it anyway because it was polite and because he had the feeling that his mom would chew him out like a rag doll if he came home without his manners.
